Back in 2011, at the infamous Spiders nightclub in Hull, Steph and Chris were introduced by a mutual friend – and so their story began! After some time spent Facebook stalking each other, they decided to meet up for a few coffees and a beer, and found that they clicked straight away! A little while later, armed with a pocket full of churros, Chris popped the question in the middle of the Humber Bridge. He and Steph had fallen in love with the tasty snack on their first holiday together – with a treat like that, how could she say no!
Steph and Chris’ vision of their big day was really quite simple. Their main aims? Have fun, eat cake, and somehow, incorporate Star Wars into the mix! Knowing that they wanted an outdoor wedding, Steph and Chris chose to have their legal ceremony in the morning. They wanted to save the grand reveal for when Steph walked down the aisle, surrounded by friends and family, and so the morning became the perfect opportunity to incorporate their love for Star Wars! Dressed from head to toe in Star Wars gear, Steph and Chris had originally hoped to wear face masks so they could avoid seeing each other until later in the day – but the registrars kindly pointed out that in order for the ceremony to be legal – they had to be certain they were marrying the right people! So, with them both as covered up as much the law allows, Steph and Chris kicked the day off with a fun, alternative twist, light-sabers and all!
For the outdoor ceremony and reception, Steph and Chris chose Saltmarshe Hall, feeling that it ticked every box. Unique and impressive looking, the flexibility of not having to conform to a single wedding ‘package’ really appealed to Steph and Chris, and they knew it would work perfectly for their fun, easy-going day. Of course, they also loved how picturesque the venue is, and knew that it would look stunning in their wedding photos! The venue didn’t only look good, Steph and Chris made sure it was super fun too. They decked out the venue with big inflatables, alternative lawn games, an ice cream truck, and about a football fields worth of astro turf to keep their guests entertained!
After the gorgeous outdoor ceremony, while guests relaxed in the sun with their ice creams, we wandered off to take portraits of the newlyweds. Saltmarshe Hall is such a vibrant, pretty venue with so many great picture locations. The lovely gardens, and the lovely couple themselves of course, made it a pleasure to photograph – we even managed to have a prosecco break half way through – what a dream! There were so many highlights of the day, taking photos on the riverbank during sunset was one of our favourite parts. The food was amazing too, we were treated to incredible dishes from Happy Hogs Catering and Fields of Anlaby over the course of the day, each providing an abundance of delicious food! The Cake Room, too, did a wonderful job in creating the perfect wedding cake, which almost seemed to glow! The day was rounded off perfectly with guests taking to the dance floor, provided by Club Class Entertainment, and dancing throughout the night. Even a VIP wedding guest got involved – who knew Stormtroopers danced so well!?
