We’ve known Paris & Danny for a rather long time now, they’re one of those couples that seems to have been together forever! They actually met when they were just teenagers back in Year 7, hanging out at Costello Athletics Club.
A few years later, during a trip to the city of romance, Danny popped the question! Yep – he proposed to Paris…in the city of the same name (There’s an amazing pun to be found in this somewhere, I’m sure).
When they asked us to shoot their wedding, we knew we had to do a great job. We would anyway, of course, but since Paris is our regular hairdresser, the threat of terrible haircuts for the rest of eternity felt pretty real.
Paris & Danny’s wedding was so well planned, it would’ve been difficult to make it look anything less than stunning. Having been together for such a long time, it was clear Paris & Danny were completely on the same wave length from the start of wedding planning.
They wanted their day to be really relaxed, and to create an environment where guests felt at ease. For us, these are the best types of weddings – happy guests make for superb photos! Saltmarshe Hall seemed to tick every box, and it helped that the staff were super nice too!
Paris & Danny decided to have a gorgeous outdoor ceremony in the gardens. The weather gods were clearly listening, and the day was genuinely glorious – as English weather always is, right?!
Tom spent the morning photographing Paris and her closest friends and family, including the two most well-behaved flowers girls he’s ever worked with. The entire morning was chilled, thanks to everybody being so well prepared and organised.
Meanwhile, Ant spent the morning with Danny & the guys, who had a great time pulling poses down the driveway. There was a particularly lovely moment during both sets of preparations, when both Bride & Groom received a gift from the other, needless to say, there were tears all round!
The ceremony itself was an absolute dream, for us as photographers, as well as Paris & Danny. Of course, shooting outside in the glorious sunshine certainly presents its own set of challenges – but it’s truly rewarding, and the photos are always stunning, especially with Saltmarsh gardens as the backdrop. Plus, no walls! There’s so much extra room for us to ninja silently about, and get those super important shots.
Paris & Danny’s ceremony was particularly enjoyable, especially when the best man & groomsmen played a terrible little trick on the registrar, handing over 5 empty ring boxes before finally getting to the real one – genuinely hilarious! There were some other really lovely touches too. One of our favourites? Paris & Danny booked the incredibly talented acoustic guitar player, Darren Jones, to keep guests entertained while they headed inside to sign the official register – perfect!
The rest of the day was equally as funny and relaxed. The portraits were completely fuss free, with Saltmarshe’s grounds once again truly spoiling us for choice in regards to backdrops. Meanwhile, the guests relaxed and had drinks in the gardens, before everybody headed inside for a set of incredibly funny speeches – which featured the best man & groomsmen cheekily revealing some telling details about Danny, one of the photos below should tell you everything you need to know about that little moment!
The speeches were followed by a wonderful first dance and a lovely cake cut, which everybody gathered around. And to top the day off perfectly? A pretty spectacular sunset. There are some things you can’t book in advance for weddings – but when a night sky like that happens, you know you’ve witnessed something pretty darn special.
Oh, and Danny climbed on the roof. Seriously. Check it out for yourself below.
