Barmbyfield Barn Wedding: A Homemade Sweet Stand & A Glowing Sunset

Barmbyfield Barn Wedding: A Homemade Sweet Stand & A Glowing Sunset

Sophie & Joel’s story began a few years back, when they met each other on a night out. After challenging each other to a moonwalk competition on the dance floor – they couldn’t help but fall in love! After spending 5 years together, Joel decided it was time to pop the question, and proposed to Sophie at her parent’s house!

Set on having a rustic wedding, Sophie and Joel found their dream venue after a visit to Barmbyfield, and felt straight away that the old barn fit perfectly into their vision. They filled it with lots of candles, twinkly lights, and set upon creating as many hand-made pieces as they could possibly handle!

The flowers really brought the barn to life, too. One of our favourite pieces, however, was a sweet-stand made by Sophie’s Dad, complete with crisps, which provided the guests with a delicious assortment of snacks throughout the evening – yum!

The day itself was lovely. Tom spent the morning with Sophie and the bridesmaids, witnessing some seriously hysterical bridesmaid banter, before heading to the church. The ceremony was lovely, and the church itself was super cute, and worked perfectly as the backdrop in the group photos. In fact, the confetti photo we took here is still in our portfolio as a firm favourite, probably because the guests were so well coordinated with their confetti throwing.

The fun, relaxed atmosphere continued throughout the day. One of our favourite moments was taking portraits of the bridal party, complete with a few drinks, which was definitely an enjoyable experience. Guests danced into the night on the dance floor, and ate a rather delicious hog roast. One final treat for the day was provided by mother nature – a gorgeous sunset for some lovely, glowy portraits of the newlyweds.

For Sophie and Joel, their personal highlight was getting a little alone time together during the drive to the reception. They really enjoyed their first dance, too, as they chose to dance to a long time personal favourite of theirs. All in all, it was a truly beautiful day, and one that has stuck with us throughout the years.

Anyway, here are some of our favourites from the day, enjoy!
